12 Months Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity.
We are looking for an organised and self‑motivated individual to join our Streetworks Team based in Hackney Central.
Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will ensure that the Council’s obligations under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Traffic Management Act 2004, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, the London Permit Scheme, and other relevant legislation are discharged efficiently and effectively to reduce disruption to the public highway and enable the Council to fulfil its network management duty.
Key Responsibilities
 * Manage the full lifecycle of Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs), ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and internal procedures.
 * Assess and approve TTRO applications, review traffic management plans and coordinate with stakeholder parties such as utility companies, contractors, emergency services and internal departments.
 * Monitor active TTROs to ensure safety and compliance, resolve operational issues and conduct site inspections when necessary.
 * Provide expert advice on traffic regulation matters, mentor junior staff and support continuous improvement across the service.
 * Contribute to process development, including digitisation initiatives, and produce reports on TTRO activity and performance.
 * Provide support during emergency works or out‑of‑hour incidents to ensure rapid and effective traffic management.
Required Skills and Experience
 * Good working knowledge of current legislation relevant to traffic regulation.
 * Experience working in a fast‑paced environment and, where possible, familiarity with Streetworks systems.
 * Competent IT user with proficiency in Google Docs & Sheets, Microsoft Word and Excel.
 * Understanding of Streetworks Registers and beneficial experience with Street Manager and One Network.
 * Customer‑focused with excellent communication skills.
