Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting Technician to join our rapidly growing team. Following our recent £1.2 million investment round, this is an exciting time to join LumenStream. This part-time role is crucial in providing bookkeeping and financial support across LumenStream Ltd and its two subsidiary companies, ensuring that our financial operations run smoothly as we continue to expand.
Key Responsibilities
* Bookkeeping & Trial Balance Preparation: Accurately record all financial transactions in line with the monthly reporting timetable, maintaining records to trial balance level and ensuring all postings are up to date and reconciled.
* Purchase Ledger & Invoice Processing: Efficiently process supplier invoices, matching with purchase orders where relevant, resolving discrepancies and ensuring timely and accurate payments in line with agreed credit terms.
* Sales Ledger & Credit Control: Maintain customer accounts, issue sales invoices, monitor receivables and follow up on overdue accounts, issue sales invoices to ensure timely collection and resolve any related queries.
* Ledger Maintenance & Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of accounts payable and receivable ledgers, correcting errors and maintaining compliance with internal controls.
* Bank & Cash Reconciliations: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank and cash accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
* VAT Returns & Statutory Submissions: Prepare accurate VAT returns and other relevant statutory returns in line with regulatory deadlines.
* Fixed Asset Register: Maintain the asset register, ensuring acquisitions and disposals are recorded correctly and depreciations is calculated and posted monthly.
* Employee Expense Processing: Review and process staff expense claims, ensuring they are valid, supported by appropriate documentation and paid in accordance with company policy.
* Journal Entries & Month-End Tasks: Prepare and post routine journals (e.g., accruals, prepayments, recharges) and assist in month-end close activities to support accurate management reporting.
Other Duties:
* Support the external accountant in preparing management information and reports.
* Respond to financial information queries.
* Perform other general office and accounting duties as needed.
Personal Specification
Qualifications:
* 5 GCSEs including Maths & English with at least a grade C, or equivalent qualification.
* Accounting Technician qualification or part qualified accountant.
* A minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience in an organisation of similar or larger scale within the last 10 years.
* Excellent general IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite.
* Demonstrated experience in gathering and providing financial information to respond to queries and prepare reports.
* Experience in the preparation of management accounts.
Personal Attributes:
* Ability to work effectively on own initiative as well as collaboratively within a team.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with effectively and positively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Good organisational skills and a proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
