Accounts Assistant
Cambridge | Hybrid Working
£30,000 – £35,000
We are delighted to be working with a well-established and growing organisation based just North of Cambridge, who are looking to appoint an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team on a hybrid basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable who is looking to build on their finance career within a structured, supportive, and fast-paced environment.
The Role
Reporting into the Senior Management Accountant, the Accounts Assistant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate financial processing and contributing to month-end and year-end close activities, including support for an international site.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining accurate AP and AR ledgers, including outstanding balances and credit control support
2. Preparing and processing supplier payment runs
3. Posting credit card transactions and employee expenses
4. Completing bank postings and reconciliations
5. Performing general ledger reconciliations and posting journals (with supervision)
6. Supporting month-end and year-end close activities
7. Assisting with financial reports and supporting schedules
8. Resolving queries
9. Performing regular ledger housekeeping
10. Identifying opportunities for process improvement
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
11. Experience in Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable
12. Ideally be qualified or working towards a financial qualification, such as AAT
13. A good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial controls
14. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
15. The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
16. Confident and professional communication skills
17. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Desirable (but not essential)
18. Experience within a group finance environment
19. Knowledge of US SOX requirements
20. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
21. Audit or finance system implementation experience
22. German language skills
