Health Care Support Worker

The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) is part of the multidisciplinary team and plays a vital role within the team, providing holistic, patient-centred care which is planned and directed by health care professionals. Under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse (RN), midwife or nurse associate (RNA) the HCSW will undertake a range of core clinical skills and, depending on the area worked, may include specific clinical skills relevant to the speciality. The post holder is expected to cover the duties of other HCSW colleagues within the range of the post holder's knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties in hospital, community or other settings
* Record patient observations and changes to patients' clinical conditions; carry out limited clinical care duties
* Follow all LNWH policies and provide a safe and person-centred environment for the treatment of patients
* Deliver high standards of care, providing services in accordance with the Trust's values and behaviours to support the nursing team in the delivery of patient care which is safe and effective
* Serve as a fundamental part of the nursing team in providing care to patients, carers and relatives at LNWH, including the safe delivery of a range of clinical competency skills
Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent
* Ability to work under pressure with complex cases
* Knowledge of basic IT systems or willingness to undertake training
* Ability to maintain positive working relationships
* Experience in managing long term patients with stoma and fistula
* Experience as an HCA or experience working in healthcare settings
* Experience in an acute health care setting

£30,630 to £32,346 a year per annum (inc HCAS pro rata)
