An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences – Salford Royal Hospital, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust – for a part‑time Consultant in Neurology and Stroke Medicine.
The role will contribute to the provision of a high quality Neurology and Stroke service to the Greater Manchester conurbation.
Responsibilities
* Assessment and treatment of new and follow‑up patients in outpatient clinics.
* Assessment of ad hoc attenders as necessary.
* Ward consultations on acute neurology ward, neurosurgery, and neurorehabilitation wards.
* Clinical admin.
* Attendance at weekly neuroradiology meetings.
* Hyperacute and acute stroke care delivery.
* Rapid access TIA assessments.
The Stroke service is based at Salford Royal with Neurology principally based at the same site with spoke services at other sites within Greater Manchester.
The successful candidate will join a large team of over 50 Consultant Neurologists at Salford Royal Hospital who provide outpatient and inpatient liaison services across Greater Manchester, covering a population of 3.2 million. The team is supported by middle grade and junior medical tiers, as well as specialist nurse teams across the range of neurological sub‑specialties.
The post will also involve general neurology outpatients in a spoke of MCCN and liaison inpatient neurology in MCCN or in a GM spoke.
