WQ Inspection & Certification Ltd (WQiC) are a UKAS accredited Inspection Body, Certification Body and Testing (N˚9430) and appointed by DBT as an RTPO for issuing permanent joining qualifications suitable for use under the UK Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations. We also hold ISO 9001 certification for Witnessing, Testing & Certification. Our services include Non-Destructive Testing, welding qualifications and mechanical testing for individuals and companies in the engineering and fabrication industry.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Trainee Welding Inspector / Examiner at WQ Inspection & Certification Ltd located in West Midlands. As a Trainee Welding Inspector / Examiner, you will have the chance to work alongside experienced inspectors and examiners, visiting client premises throughout the UK to witness and record welding procedures and welder qualification tests. Full training will be provided for the right candidate. On completion of training and mentoring period the role will develop into the Welding Inspector / Examiner role and additional training and the opportunity to develop professional qualifications may be available.
Qualifications and Experience
Prior experience in a similar role, or a background in welding or non-destructive or destructive testing in a supervisory role would be an advantage.
* Full Clean UK Driving Licence
* Quality Control and Quality Assurance skills
* Welding Inspection and/or Welding expertise
* Experience in inspection procedures and techniques
* Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
* Knowledge of welding codes and standards
* Strong communication and reporting skills
* Experience in welding, materials testing or non-destructive testing industry is a plus
· 2 years minimum of practical welding and fabrication experience in a welding & fabrication environment or practical training organisation involving all major and commonly applicable welding processes, materials and consumables for carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, etc.
· Suitable background in the welding industry
· City & guilds level 2/NVQ or equivalent qualification – suitable to welding industry
· Awareness of requirements of applicable welding qualification standards.
