An opportunity is available for a Civil Engineering Specialist in the Projects team, based at Grantham. Reporting to the Team Manager, you will be responsible for civil construction and replacement projects on the distribution network and at non-operational sites up to and including 132kV. *Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. Main Responsibilities Provision of specialist civil services to own and other teams. Organisation and financial monitoring of individual tasks. Minimising risk to the security of the distribution network. Liaise with other specialists within the Company. Keep up to date with civil developments. Exercise leadership. Request assistance when outside capability or authority. Identify opportunities for improvement in performance and implement or recommend the change. Issue work to staff/contractors and approve timesheets/invoices. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate is required to have a HNC Qualified in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management or Building Surveying along with Health & Safety qualifications, preferably NEBOSH / IOSH / SMSTS. You must be able to demonstrate experience in contractor management/quality management, knowledge of planning regulations/permitted development rights and managing capital and revenue budgets. You will have the ability to write specifications for various construction & civils projects, scope of works, construction details and have CMD knowledge and experience. Previous trade/substations works or Civils experience, a Project Management qualification along with experience in a customer facing role will be beneficial. If necessary appropriate training and support will be given in order for the successful candidate to realise their full potential within the role. Operationally we require you to live within approximately 60-90 minutes of the Grantham depot. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
