Yard Engineer – Midlands
Salary: £28,000–£32,000 | Full-Time, Permanent
We’re looking for a hands-on Yard Engineer to join a busy team preparing, testing, and repairing generators. This role is mainly yard-based, with occasional travel to customer sites. You’ll support the Workshop Foreman and ensure our equipment is ready for hire.
What You’ll Do:
* Prepare, service, and maintain generators for hire.
* Carry out repairs on generators at customer sites when needed.
* Assist with loading and offloading equipment.
* Drive a forklift truck in the yard as required.
* Manage generator deliveries and returns, including refueling.
* Take part in an on-call rota.
* Keep work areas and vehicles clean and safe.
* Follow health & safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience:
* Qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant.
* OR proven experience servicing diesel generators.
* Strong fault-finding and communication skills.
* Forklift truck license preferred.
