Main duties of the job
As an Advanced MRI Radiographer you will deliver high‑quality diagnostic services across our modern MRI facilities, including two Siemens 1.5T scanners and a GE 1.5T Voyager at our Community Diagnostic Centre. A new state‑of‑the‑art Imaging Scanning Centre will open in 2026, offering a growing service.
Your responsibilities will include carrying out a wide range of MRI examinations (neuro, musculoskeletal, angiography, dynamic studies), ensuring the highest clinical standards, providing excellent patient care, and participating in the on‑call rota for spinal emergencies.
Job responsibilities
* Organise workload and supervise junior staff for MRI.
* Provide ongoing tuition for junior staff as required.
* Maintain a high‑quality patient experience.
* Ensure patient, staff and visitor safety.
* Coordinate with other modalities to maximise room utilisation and prioritise patients efficiently.
Qualifications and knowledge
* BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent.
* HCP registration.
* Knowledge of hospital information systems (HIS), radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving & communication systems (PACS).
* Sound knowledge of health and safety and data protection requirements.
* Evidence of current MR imaging techniques & practices via short courses & study days.
* Knowledge of relevant national imaging standards (e.g., IR(ME)R 2017, IRR ’17).
Experience
* Extensive range of MRI procedures.
* General radiographic experience since graduation.
* Experience training a team of MRI radiographers.
* Clinical management of an MRI service.
* Experience handling breakdowns and remedial action.
