This is fantastic opportunity to shape our beer and cider category for the next 24 months, itll involve creating both an own-brand and branded strategy in a category that is evolving every month. The role will be responsible for deciding which areas of the category, which suppliers and prices we want to go after, this role is different to almost any other beer buying role in the industry. We have an aspiration to drastically increase our share of the market in a way that showcases our great fantastic M&S quality. The category is worth >50m annually with a huge opportunity for growth with a really diverse product and customer base, everything in beer and cider from bottled ales to craft beer falls into this remit. We work closely with our brewers so this role is a great opportunity to travel to our breweries both in the UK and abroad.

What you'll do
Your key accountabilities will include
* Driving sales and profit in line with operating plan budgets, driving market share performance
* Working with your category team (product developer, technologist, supply chain) to deliver commercial objectives
* Building and leading successful, positive and commercial relationships with your suppliers
* Setting effective range strategies which optimise selling format and product choice while understanding space requirements
* Preparing and agreeing category plan with your Management Team through analysis of customer insight, sales and trends

* Buying experience with an interest in the category and customer mindset
* A real passion for retail, able to work at pace in a commercial environment
* A confident decision maker with strong communication and influencing skills
* An analytical mindset, able to use customer information to seize commercial opportunities
