GBR Recruitment Ltd is working exclusively with a leading SME sized drainage, civil engineering & groundworks consultancy to recruit an Operations Support Manager to join a small knit team within their highly successful Lincolnshire based operation.
As the Operations Support Manager, you will be responsible for managing the team of drainage & civil engineers, overseeing operations, prioritising work packs, coordinating projects, booking site surveys & works, typing engineer survey reports & summaries (including photographic evidence of required works or issues), and liaising with clients to ensure high level customer service and total customer satisfaction.
This is a key hands‑on managerial role focused on efficiency, quality of customer service, accurate report writing and overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, schedule and assign daily surveying/engineering jobs.
* Deliver efficient operations, managing the team of drainage engineers/surveyors to ensure the business meets client needs and fulfills works orders successfully.
* Issue quotations for large‑scale drainage & civil projects.
* Book customer site visits & drainage inspections.
* Prepare detailed engineer survey reports and summary findings documents with photographic evidence.
* Ensure all work is completed OTIF to required standards and within budget.
* Handle any customer queries regarding drainage & civil works.
* Log all customer requirements and instructions, relaying them to the survey teams.
* Share work order information with other members of the SMT.
* Update the works‑order board, ensuring it is accurate.
* Prioritise workloads to meet set deadlines.
* Update systems and amend spreadsheets.
* Produce MI & KPI’s.
* Analyse current ways of working to drive continuous improvement.
* Support other members of the operations team.
Attributes
* Strong scheduling and planning skills.
* Strong operations/business support experience within civil engineering, groundworks, construction, engineering, building services consultancy, manufacturing or other (training provided).
* Accurate report‑writing skills with an eye for detail.
* Ability to prioritise work orders and ensure OTIF completion.
* Strong customer‑service skills, dealing directly with client senior‑management teams.
* Strong Excel and computer systems skills.
* Team‑management skills (remote teams preferably).
* Keen to work in a small team where adaptability and flexibility are required.
