Residential Support Worker (Children's Home) – Hayes
Supporting Children & Young People aged 10–17
Full-Time | Part-Time | Bank
We are a small, therapeutic children's residential home in Hayes providing 24/7 care for children aged 10–17 with complex needs. Many of our young people have experienced trauma, instability, exploitation risks, and challenges with emotional regulation. We are looking for strong, calm, reliable adults who can offer consistency, compassion, and structure.
This role is ideal for someone who is emotionally intelligent, resilient, and confident working in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment. Every day is different — and every day matters to the children we support.
What you'll do:
* Build safe, trusting relationships with children and young people
* Support daily routines, independence skills, school attendance and activities
* Promote emotional regulation using trauma-informed practice
* Respond to safeguarding concerns including missing episodes, CCE/CSE risk, peer influence and community safety
* Support with homework, appointments, routines, meals and household tasks
* Maintain professional boundaries and model positive behaviour
* Complete reports, keywork sessions, risk assessments and logs
* Work as part of a reflective, supportive team
What we're looking for:
* People who genuinely care about young people
* Strong emotional resilience and calm under pressure
* Team players with good communication skills
* Ability to follow safeguarding procedures and care plans
* Experience in residential childcare, education, SEN, youth work or mental health (preferred but not essential)
* Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins
* Driver preferred but not essential
What we offer:
* Full training package (PACE, trauma-informed care, safeguarding, behaviour support, CPI and more)
* Supportive leadership who invest in staff development
* Opportunities to progress into senior roles
* Competitive salary + sleep-in payments + overtime
* A therapeutic, respectful work culture focused on stability, safety and positive outcomes
If you're the kind of person who believes children deserve adults who don't give up on them — even on their hardest days — then we would love to hear from you.
