Responsibilities
* Lead on areas of fisheries enforcement and help shape and deliver local area enforcement plans.
* Conduct targeted, intelligence-led patrols to check for illegal fishing, fish removal and byelaw offences.
* Undertake rod licence checks and promote fishing through positive engagement with customers and partners.
* Work with the Angling Trust to develop combined enforcement initiatives.
* Be trained to obtain a full Salmon & Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975 warrant for High Impact Fisheries Enforcement work, maintaining training, protective equipment and knowledge of fisheries legislation, offences and reporting procedures.
* Maintain a strong awareness of health and safety.
* Operate with Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance prior to starting, and achieve Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) level 2 (full) clearance after starting.
* Work with a wide range of partners and enforcement agencies; respond to incidents; resolve conflicts; and address enforcement-related customer enquiries.
* Prepare timely, accurate and concise enforcement reports.
* Collaborate with Fisheries Technical Officers, the national Fish movements team and the wider enforcement portfolio; undertake both office and field-based activities across the fishing season.

Location and team
You will join the Fisheries Biodiversity and Geomorphology team in Rivers House Blandford, undertaking fisheries enforcement across the Wessex area, working with regulatory and specialist technical teams and enforcement colleagues nationally and externally.
Experience/skills Required
* Experience of investigating crime and taking enforcement action with a proven track record of tackling crime.
* K nowledge and skills in fisheries, angling regulation and enforcement; investigation legislation; and ability to communicate to a range of people to influence outcomes.
* Excellent administration skills with the ability to keep accurate records and manage workload.
* Confidence to manage hostile situations and to protect own health and safety and that of others.
* Physical fitness to pass mandatory conflict resolution training, complete annual refresher training and work outdoors on patrols, including kayak boat work.
* Ability to swim.
* Boat handling experience/qualifications is desirable.
Requirements
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance before starting; Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) level 2 (full) after starting.
