Job Description
Hunter AHP has an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Histopathology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in Kent. This role offers the chance to enhance your skills in a modern, well-equipped laboratory while contributing to a high-demand department.
Key Responsibilities
* Embedding, microtomy, staining (including special stains), and sectioning of various tissue types
* Operate histopathology equipment (e.g., Leica or Thermo microtomes)
* Ensure quality control and compliance with UKAS/ISO 15189 standards
* Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to laboratory SOPs
* Support junior staff and assist with training as needed
Requirements:
* HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist
* Minimum of 1 year UK experience in a Histopathology laboratory
* Proficiency in microtomy (preferred block count: 30–40/hour)
* Familiarity with quality assurance processes and UKAS standards
* Previous NHS experience
* Experience with digital pathology systems
