We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Ketton Cement Works. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in maintaining and optimising electrical systems across our site, with a strong focus on energy reduction and sustainability.
As Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring all electrical maintenance, operations, and plant efficiency are optimised to maintain maximum availability and reliability at the lowest maintenance costs. You will set and maintain excellence in electrical engineering standards, manage capital projects, and lead a skilled electrical team.
Electrical Engineering Standards
* Set, provide and maintain excellence in electrical engineering standards across the site
* Ensure compliance with IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations for design, installation and testing
* Maintain compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) and Quarry Regulations (1999)
* Manage HV and LV switchgear, cable and transformer inspection and test regimes
LV/HV Installations
* Conduct fault level analysis and specify fuse sizes, feeder over current and transformer protection
* Perform harmonic analysis and assess penetration in power networks
* Interpret transformer dissolved gas analysis to ensure optimal equipment health
* Analyse and forecast site electrical demand for commercial advantage
Drive Installations & Motor Systems
* Design and specify AC/DC motor installations with understanding of operational parameters and duty types
* Specify starting arrangements for slip ring and squirrel cage induction motors
* Select and implement AC/DC variable speed drive technologies (inverter, Variable speed drives, etc.)
* Analyse motor vibration for roller and sleeve bearing systems
Instrumentation & Control Systems
* Manage process instrumentation and calibration including load cells, level control devices, and PID controllers
* Model and set up analogue/digital PID controllers through Laplace and Fourier Transform frequency domains
* Design and implement safety-critical control systems and interlocks (Pilz, Castel/Fortress)
* Program and maintain PLC systems (Siemens S7) and SCADA systems
* Apply HAZOP risk modelling techniques
Project Management & Delivery
* Implement capital projects from conception to handover, delivering on time and within budget
* Develop detailed feasibility studies and business cases
* Engineer and manage electrical aspects of projects
* Deliver investment projects to increase plant efficiency and reduce energy consumption aligned with sustainability policy
Team Leadership
* Lead and develop the electrical team including Electrical Supervisor, Electricians, Software Engineer, and Apprentices
* Ensure the team works within statutory legislation and company policies
* Identify training needs and build technical capability
Budget & Systems Management
* Provide direct input to maintenance budget planning for electrical items, power distribution, and infrastructure
* Support the Engineering Manager with cost control related to electrical items
* Maintain full conversance with SAP PM system
* Develop spare parts strategies to optimise plant operations
* Liaise with contractors and suppliers on technical and safety issues
What We're Looking For
Essential
* bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is required
* HV/LV authorised by regional electricity company to level of Senior Authorised Person
* NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years' experience in an electrical engineering department within continuous process industry
* Expert knowledge of LV/HV installations, drive systems, and control systems
* Proficiency in SAP PM system
* Strong project management skills with proven ability to deliver on time and within budget
* Cross-functional understanding of mechanical issues
* Experience in analysis and forecasting of site electrical demand
