The job itself
Applicants are invited to support a 15 year old young man with autism and ADHD.
He is a friendly, sociable, and caring teenager with a kind and generous nature. He builds positive relationships with people who, in his words, “get him,” and once he feels comfortable, he enjoys taking part in a wide range of activities. He particularly likes being active and would enjoy support to attend places such as the gym, swimming, and similar activities. Please note that he is not interested in football.
This young man requires a strong willed and capable worker with knowledge and experience of working with SEN and challenging behaviours that can be aggressive. This individual can struggle with boundaries, so a worker needs to be creative in how they approach situations. Driving is also essential for the role.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

3. Settling and supporting the individual.
4. Keeping them safe in the community.
5. Helping to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
6. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
7. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
About the candidate
The suitable candidate must:
8. Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
9. Be patient, caring and understanding.
10. Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
11. Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
12. Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
