Description
Coordinate designated study programme delivery activities for the College, including delivery of high-quality teaching, responsibility for day-to-day operational issues, exams, and timetabling, ensuring a consistent approach across both sites if required. Inspire and motivate students through outstanding teaching that challenges them to excel. Passion for teaching and enthusiasm for developing students' English, Maths, and employability skills are essential. Regular target setting and progress monitoring will underpin all activities to ensure successful student outcomes.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
1. Deliver high-quality teaching aligned with College standards and external validating bodies. Prepare teaching materials, schemes of work, and lesson plans. Develop and implement curriculum revisions, undertake quality assurance, assess student work, monitor progress, and maintain records including Individual Learning Plans. Ensure statutory compliance including safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
2. Manage daily course operations, including communication, problem-solving, timetable management, arranging cover, coordinating work experience and enrichment activities, internal verification, and liaising with relevant departments to ensure compliance and consistency across sites.
3. Assist with recruitment, manage enrolments, and organize induction programs to ensure correct course placement.
4. Conduct meetings with students, set and review SMART targets, support UCAS applications, and address pastoral needs, liaising with college services as needed.
5. Monitor attendance and results, coordinate performance monitoring, and develop action plans to improve retention and achievement.
6. Promote English and Maths provision, monitor attendance, and support student movement between classes.
7. Participate in meetings, events, and college committees, and coordinate parent evenings and consultations.
8. Collaborate with colleagues to develop courses and materials, participate in CPD, and mentor new lecturers.
9. Contribute to departmental administration, including attendance records, reports, and online content management.
10. Engage in quality assurance activities such as verification, moderation, and self-assessment reviews.
For SPS points 5–8, additional duties include internal verification, monitoring SAR action plans, resource coordination, supporting curriculum and quality issues, ensuring UCAS references are completed timely, and liaising with Higher Education Institutions.
