EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our Waste Network team has an opportunity for you to join as our new Waste Incident Responder (Tanker Driver).
In your new role, you’ll be a safe, professional driver of up to 44T vacuum tankers, operating these for the collection and delivery of liquid biosolids and other waste products primarily within the Severn Trent network, with some jetting and cleansing tasks. Initially, as an incident responder, you will be the first on the scene to stop pollution or hold it until the issue is fixed.
When not responding to incidents, you will carry out planned work on our sewage treatment sites to ensure they are maintained and operating efficiently.
You’ll work a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern, covering 0600 - 1730 hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
Please note: This role is currently under consultation, and the working pattern may change to rotating shifts in the next couple of months once you start. This will include mornings, afternoons, and night shifts on a 4 on 4 off basis working 37 hours a week, including weekends and bank holidays.
Key responsibilities include:
* Maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation, including drivers' hours, working time directive, and vehicle roadworthiness.
* Completing daily work instructions from the Planning Office or Line Manager and communicating updates to stakeholders.
* Using STW IT systems for tanker load information, safety systems, e-learning, and working hours entry, reporting site or equipment issues to the line manager.
* Identifying efficiency opportunities to reduce overall costs.
What you’ll bring to the role
Experience driving LGV Class 2 (C) vehicles is essential. Knowledge of vacuum tankers and wastewater experience is highly desirable.
The right attitude is important. We value positivity, a caring attitude, and character, alongside skills and experience.
