About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team in Rotherham. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ learning, development, and wellbeing, helping to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
This role may include supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1, or Key Stage 2, including those with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
2. Work with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning.
3. Provide targeted support for pupils with SEND, EAL, or additional learning needs.
4. Assist in preparing classroom resources and maintaining an organised learning environment.
5. Promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
6. Support pupils’ social and emotional development.
7. Supervise pupils during break times, educational visits, and school activities where required.
8. Contribute to assessment and record-keeping under the direction of the class teacher.
Person Specification
Essential:
9. Previous experience working with children in a UK primary school setting.
10. Experience working within the UK education system (essential).
11. Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent).
12. Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures in UK schools.
13. Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
14. A patient, flexible, and caring approach.
Desirable:
15. Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
16. Experience supporting children with SEND.
17. Knowledge of phonics schemes such as Read Write Inc or similar.
18. First Aid qualification.
