Vacancy Information
Salary advertised: full time (35 hours per week). Part‑time hours will be pro‑rated accordingly. Hourly rate of pay: £16.14 – £17.24.
Days and Hours of Work
Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:00. Working days are negotiable, start and finish times are flexible and flexi‑time is applicable. Start date: 19 January 2025.
Part‑time Consideration

Key Responsibilities
* Register births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships in accordance with legal requirements.
* Conduct and officiate civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies at the Registration Office and approved venues.
* Carry out citizenship ceremonies and other non‑statutory ceremonies.
* Verify and process legal documentation, ensuring compliance with statutory procedures.
* Issue official certificates and maintain accurate records using the Forward Electronic Registration system (FER).
* Provide advice and guidance to the public on registration processes and legal preliminaries.
* Handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
Home/Hybrid Working Consideration

Support the delivery of front‑line registration services including Registration of Births, Deaths, Marriages, Civil Partnership Ceremonies, Citizenship Ceremonies and Burial Administration.
Job Requirements
* Relevant Qualifications
o Educated to a minimum of National 4 English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication/Numeracy or SVQ1/Standard‑Grade General level English/Math.
o Complete two years of study to achieve a Certificate of Proficiency in the Law and Practice of Registration in Scotland.
* Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.
* Level 1 Disclosure Clearance
Level 1 Disclosure Clearance is required to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate; receipt of the certificate is required prior to commencement.
* Applicants who have spent more than 3 months working or living outside the UK in the last 5 years must present a copy of an overseas criminal record check.
