Key responsibilities:
Managing the legal aspects of the company's Intellectual Property portfolio including:
· coordinating external IP lawyers
· bringing oppositions to registrations
· negotiating settlements to disputes
· registration of new trade marks
· determining litigation strategy
Overseeing, advising and leading compliance to UK GDPR and Data Protection across the company including:
· being the nominated person for Data Protection internally and externally
· identifying and minimising data protection risks
· assessing data protection compliance
· drafting, implementing and ensuring compliance with data protection policy and procedure
Reviewing, amending and drafting legal documentation and contracts to support the commercial and operation arms of the business. Advising the board of directors and company on a wide variety of legal areas and obtaining external expertise where required to do so.
Essential skills:
* 5-7 years' experience in house or private practice (or combination thereof)
* Litigation/contentious experience
* Data Protection law experience desirable but not essential
* Intellectual Property law experience desirable but not essential
* Excellent attention to detail
* Excellent problem-solving & critical thinking ability
* Excellent organizational, prioritisation and time management skills
* Proactive and positive attitude
* Ability to investigate and advise on any area of law (with external support where required)
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* Highest level of discretion and confidentiality
* Strong sense of ownership
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and preferably in SharePoint and use of AI tools including Copilot.
Other Details:
* Full time position, 40 hours per week.
* Hybrid - 1 day per week from the Windsor office for the first 2 months and a minimum of 2 days per month from the Windsor office thereafter.
