Hi, I’m Dr. Cloie Parfitt, a psychotherapist providing both short-term and long-term therapy to clients online, based in the UK and around the world.
I work as an integrative practitioner, drawing on several major therapeutic approaches and blending them to best suit your individual needs. My core training lies in person-centred and psychodynamic therapy, and these influence my work with clients. As a relational therapist, I’m deeply interested in how our past experiences and relationships shape our current relationships, both with others and with ourselves. Throughout life, we often experience hurt within relationships, but I firmly believe that healing also takes place through meaningful and nurturing relationships.
I also believe that every person has an innate potential for personal growth. Given the right environment, we all have the capacity to reach our full potential. My role as your therapist is to create that environment—one in which you feel safe, accepted, and valued—so you can explore your emotions, thoughts, and experiences and allow for that growth to take place.
In my private practice, I specialize in working with various types of neurodivergence, an area I’m particularly passionate about. With both personal and professional experience of autism, I understand the challenges of living in a world that can often be unaccepting or misunderstanding of the neurodivergent. I also believe that neurodivergence brings unique strengths. One of my greatest joys as a therapist is empowering individuals to tap into these strengths and to live freely and authentically.
I’ve worked in the mental health field for over eight years, in roles such as mental health nurse, group therapy facilitator, peer support worker, and professional mentoring and coaching. Before transitioning to private practice, I worked as a psychotherapist with adults, young people, and families in schools and charitable organizations. I have experience working with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, addiction, childhood abuse, complex trauma/CPTSD, and relational trauma.
