This job provides a 12‑month secondment for a Deputy Professional Lead Nurse within the Adult Community Services Division.
The Adult Community Service Division is committed to continuous quality improvement and a safety agenda.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the division has robust structures, processes and systems in place to support a workforce that is fit for the future, competent and able to deliver safe, high quality services and excellent patient care.
Responsibilities
* Provide a 12‑month secondment for the Deputy Professional Lead Nurse within the Adult Community Services Division.
* Lead on workstreams aligned with skills and experience; Deputy for the Nursing Professional Lead as required.
* Act as a member of the wider clinical division management structure, providing clear visionary leadership for operational management and delivery of nursing services.
* Work closely with divisional clinical operational leads to ensure the professional voice of nursing is articulated in operational and service transformation matters.
* Lead and participate in Trust quality walks and assurance visits to ensure compliance with the CQC framework.
* Make a key contribution to the delivery of safe, high‑quality care by ensuring nurses are professionally developed within their roles.
* Support the division through 3 core areas: care quality improvement and research; patient safety and experience; and clinical effectiveness, safe staffing assurance, safeguarding and service transformation.
* Clinical practice: work at an advanced professional clinical level, supporting, enabling and advising on best nursing practice and standards, including clinical work as required.
* Education: continue professional development, workforce development, preceptorship and student education.
* Lead initiatives that promote the Trust as a leading employer for nurses through attracting and retaining nurses from diverse specialties.
* Support complex workforce development activity, highlighting workforce issues, priorities and funding requirements.
* Support development of career pathways, mentorship and coaching for nurses within the division.
* Collaborate to develop and implement professional standards for nursing across the division, supporting professional development, leadership, competence, capacity and standards of conduct.
* Contribute to the development of Professional Nursing Advocacy within the division in line with the Trust Strategy.
* Establish and maintain strong partnerships and stakeholder relationships across local, regional and national networks.
* Promote excellence in nursing practice in all clinical areas, improving patient safety, experience and outcomes.
* Support the Nursing Professional Lead with oversight and compliance with NMC standards of professional conduct.
* Partner with the Patient Experience team to improve patient experience and outcomes using innovative solutions, including co‑production strategies.
* Work closely with the Professional Development Team to expand the numbers of nurse students within the clinical division and ensure high‑quality placements.
* Participate in the Divisional on‑call rota where required.
