About us
Founded in 1873, by George Llewellyn White, the first 100 years in the history of Geo L White Limited saw it as a trader of coal, feeds, fertilisers, and goods brought by train to the East Midlands. GLW Feeds are one of the largest independent, family-owned livestock and speciality feed manufacturers in the UK, concentrating in roll, nut, pellet, and meal-form compound feeds. In 1982, the decision was made to build a compound feed plant to manufacture and market a range of quality feeds over which the Company had complete control.
Hours of work
Monday to Friday and every other Saturday
Pay Rate - £15.76 & £18.76 for Bank holidays and weekends
Up to 60 hours per week in line with the EU working Time Directive - exact working hours discussed at interview.

Role Overview
To provide a comprehensive delivery service to all customers related to GLW feeds Ltd.
To safely transport animal feed from GLW Feeds Ltd to the designated destination.
Must follow traffic laws and correctly route yourself, ensuring there is enough fuel in the tank to reach your destination.
Drivers will take care of maintenance of their vehicle and ensure it is safe and clean where necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Loading ticket process
* View loading notes
* Organise loading notes as to load in correct order
* Mark up loading notes for night loaders in delivery box order
* Prepare delivery vehicle for loading
Loading Process
* Present delivery vehicle onto loading bays
* Ensure delivery vehicle is clean inside and presentable for loading
* Ensure all partitions inside vehicle body are locked and secure before loading commences
* Ensure all company supplied safety workwear is worn at all times during loading
* Red amber green ( RAG ) product loading training is supplied and must be adhered to.
Using the computer loading system
* Complete training of the computer loading system.
* Ensure no contamination of different feed products
* Ensure that vehicle sheet / cover is only off when vehicle is situated in loading bays
* Ensure that correct delivery weight is not exceeded.
Leaving GLW site premises
* Once vehicle is loaded, vehicle overall gross weight must be checked on exit weighbridge to ensure vehicle is not overloaded on public highway
* All delivery tickets and product declarations must be obtained from exit weighbridge
* Delivery vehicles must adhere to all legal road safety regulations when on public highway
* All tachograph and working time regulation must be adhered to at all times
* It may be necessary during the course of your duties to stay away overnight, this will be in accordance with the needs of the business.
Visiting a customer's premises
* When at a customer premises all safety signs must be adhered to
* All GLW staff are always expected to be polite and courteous
* Extra care is required as not to damage any customers property
* Drivers are expected to deliver the feed in the correct place and to the best of their ability.
* Any driver not sure of the delivery point must always check with the customer or contact GLW transport office.
* A record of point of delivery of any medicated feed must be logged on the returning delivery note.
* All returning delivery notes must be signed and the time of delivery noted by the customer or the driver if no one is available on site
* Delivery tickets must be left on site or with the customer
Returning to GLW site
* Drivers must ensure all deliveries are complete.
* When delivery vehicle is empty all body partitions must be locked before return journey commences
* Customer premises must be left as were found and all gates closed when leaving site
* On arrival back at GLW vehicle must be left clean and presentable ready for the next load
Health and Safety
All drivers have a responsibility to ensure the health, safety and well-being is adhered to
All drivers to complete Health and Safety training as advised by the business for all the tasks they are assigned to.
All drivers must comply with Health and Safety legislation, company policies/procedures and good practice.
Any Health and Safety non-compliance that comes to our attention will be dealt with by management and all steps will be taken to avoid a reoccurrence.
