Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Practical Law Corporate/Commercial (Scots law) (Part‑time)
We are seeking an experienced corporate/commercial Scottish‑qualified lawyer to join the Practical Law team in the UK.
Practical Law provides expert‑created, practical content to help legal professionals advise with confidence. It is part of Thomson Reuters.
About The Role
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor you will use your specialist legal knowledge of corporate/commercial law in Scotland to create and maintain a wide range of content and support the development of Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions. You will work in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues and handle a breadth of interesting work.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities
* Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs and business objectives.
* Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
* Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
* Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer‑focused Thomson Reuters AI‑powered legal solutions.
* Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
* Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
* Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing and technology functions where necessary.
About You
* Qualified solicitor or advocate in Scotland.
* Substantial post‑qualification experience working as a corporate/commercial lawyer in a law firm, in‑house or at the bar in the UK.
* Extensive experience in the following areas:
* Private M&A.
* Company formation and administration.
* Supply of goods and services terms and conditions.
* Confidentiality agreements.
* General contract law.
* Some knowledge of partnership law.
* Strong writing skills, with a passion for plain‑English, concise legal writing.
* A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
* Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilise OR various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
* Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space and on new and emerging technologies.
* A curious mindset, open to change and the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice.
* Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
