We are looking for Game Content Designers to join our team working on Gilded Destiny, an upcoming grand strategy game that covers the era of the Industrial Revolution (1800s—early-1900s). The game is a deep simulation of societal transformation, industrialization, economics, warfare, and diplomacy, in which players take the helm of the country of their choice and steer a course through the many challenges of the Nineteenth Century.

As a Game Content Designer, you will be focused on creating engaging historical content. This can range from conducting historical research to aid the design team, to drawing country borders and refining the game map, to writing scripted historical and alt-historical events. Your work will be pivotal to ensuring the final quality of the game and enhancing player experience.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and have a respect for historical accuracy. They will be familiar with both nineteenth-century history and the grand strategy game genre, and will have an interest in understanding the mechanics and systems underpinning the game. They will also be able to write well in the appropriate register, be thorough and organized when it comes to documentation, and be proactive and engaged in order to work effectively as part of a remote, international team. Historians or candidates with post-graduate qualifications in relevant disciplines (such as History, Politics, or Literature) are encouraged to apply.
All in all, we are looking for a Game Content Designer who is dedicated to building immersive gaming experiences, is interested in improving and growing their game design skills, and has a burning passion for history/alt-history and grand strategy games.
Responsibilities
* Conduct historical research to aid with game content creation and refinement
* Modify game content using our in-house game content editor (no coding required)
* Design and implement branching event chains
* Write and edit content in American English that is appropriate to the time-period of the game
Requirements
* Professional experience in game design, narrative design, or historical writing and research (or equivalent experiences from other sources, such as activities in the game modding community)
* Familiarity with major topics in world history and historical analysis
* Fluent in English and able to write in American English at a professional/academic level, equivalent to requirements for Bachelor's degree or higher
* Passion for and familiarity with grand strategy games and game development
* Self-starter with a strong sense of independence and the ability to take ownership of assigned tasks
* Ability to travel globally to meet other team members when the occasion requires it
* Willingness to learn and operate our in-house content editing software
Desirable Qualifications
* Academic background related to history, politics, warfare, or related subjects
* Interest in history, warfare, geography, and/or politics
* Modding experience with any grand strategy game
* Experience in code-based scripting
