We are working with a fast-growing energy consultancy client to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager to support the next phase of their commercial growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven, consultative sales professional to take ownership of winning and developing high-value business customers, while being supported by an established internal operations and administration team.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in driving new business acquisition while also managing and developing a portfolio of existing clients. You'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, closing deals, and building long-term relationships within the commercial energy and utilities space.
You'll have full ownership of your accounts and sales pipeline, with strong internal support handling onboarding, reporting, and day-to-day administration—allowing you to focus on growth, relationship management, and revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
* Proactively identify, target, and secure new business customers
* Build and manage a structured sales pipeline through outreach, networking, and referrals
* Lead consultative sales conversations, offering tailored energy and utility solutions
* Negotiate and close new business opportunities
* Manage and grow a portfolio of existing clients, focusing on retention and upsell opportunities
* Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor
* Deliver regular client reviews and reporting, demonstrating value through savings and efficiency
About You
This role would suit someone who:
* Has proven experience in energy sales within the Gas, utilities, or electricity sector.
* Is confident in generating new business and managing a personal sales pipeline
* Has experience managing medium to large commercial energy portfolios
* Demonstrates strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
* Is commercially astute, organised, and self-motivated
* Thrives in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
* Has strong IT and CRM skills
* Holds a full UK driving licence and is comfortable with client visits
