A rare opening at one of the UK’s most respected architectural practices for an ambitious Interior Designer with strong FF&E skills looking to take the next step.
Position
This role is suited to an experienced Middleweight Designer ready to step into greater responsibility, with a clear pathway to Senior level within 12 months. Working closely with the Interior Design Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in growing the interiors division within an established architectural practice.
Joining at an exciting time for the studio, the designer will take ownership of the FF&E design for a new high-end residential scheme in Hampstead Heath, leading from inception through to completion. While predominantly FF&E-focused, the role works collaboratively with the wider team across all project stages to ensure a cohesive outcome.
The studio does not follow a defined house style, instead responding thoughtfully to each client brief. Their work is characterised by a refined, material-led approach with strong emphasis on interior architecture, high-end finishes and bespoke joinery.
This is a highly client-facing position requiring confidence in presenting concepts, managing feedback, and responding with clear design rationale and well-considered solutions.
Candidate
The ideal candidate will hold a BA in Interior Design (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in high-end residential projects, ideally within a leading London studio.
They will demonstrate strong FF&E and accessories knowledge, an excellent understanding of the luxury supplier base, and proven ability to build relationships with clients, artisans and consultants. Experience developing FF&E concepts, specifying premium furniture, lighting and fabrics, and preparing detailed schedules and presentations is essential.
The candidate will be comfortable managing FF&E budgets, coordinating with interior architects and project teams, reviewing bespoke items and shop drawings, and supporting installations and final styling.
Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a proactive, ownership-driven approach are key. Experience in bespoke furniture design and residential installations is advantageous.
Studio
This well-established architectural practice, with a growing interiors division, has built a strong reputation for transforming some of London’s prime private residences and estates.
The interiors team sits within a mid-sized practice and operates from a spacious, light-filled studio in central London. The culture is collaborative and supportive, offering competitive salary packages, regular social activities and trips, ongoing CPD, and the flexibility to work from home on Fridays.
