Salary:
Up to £38,900 depending on skills and experience

What You'll Be Doing

* In –build and In-Service Maintenance of systems and equipment on Naval Ships. Equipment to include gas turbines, diesel generators, electrical switchboards, main propulsion shaftline, compressors, pumps, valves, control and instrumentation as well as platform management systems
* Utilise a variety of common and specialist test equipment to accurately test and record equipment readiness levels, complying with maintenance documentation, procedures, risk assessments and method statements
* Carry out fault diagnosis into defects and develop defect rectification solutions, individually and as a member of a team
* Evaluate technical issues in order to propose change to process or procedures
* Liaise with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas on maintenance matters
* Understand the life cycle of equipment from design to disposal
* Understand and comply with relevant Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work

Essential
Your skills and experiences:

* Practical application of engineering principals within a Marine Systems Environment
* A recognised trades person (electrical, mechanical, electronic) from an operations environment
* Good people skills and ability to work alone or as part of a team and assist within a single-disciplined team and environment
* Basic problem solving and fault diagnosis in single discipline/moderately complex applications

Desirable

* Developing IT skills. The ability to use different engineering software packages and business toolsets
* Understanding of completion management toolset and processes

The In Build Maintenance Team
The In Build Maintenance team conducts detailed and complex maintenance task instructions on a variety of equipment across multiple Type 26 Ships In Build in Scotstoun and Govan shipyards, and in external storage facilities. Working closely within a small team you will conduct maintenance as well as working with external organisations such as OEMs and specialist maintenance companies for complex equipment like Gas Turbines and Diesel Generators.

You will also take direction from other BAE stakeholders including Lead Engineers and Technical Authorities. The role is very hands on and you will be expected to be either on-ship every day or at one of the Programme's storage facilities.

Maintenance will be conducted on a range of ship equipment including pumps, valves, hotel systems, HVAC and fire fighting systems covering the full range of ship platform systems. The role is very diverse covering every ship currently in build as well as numerous external sites. Some day travel is expected as part of this role (no overnight stays).
