Careers & Employability Officer Employment and Skills Team Part Time, 27.7 hours per week. This is a fixed term contract for up to 12 months. We have an exciting opportunity for a Careers Employability Officer to join our friendly Employment and Skills Team to support students to move into employment and training through innovative and engaging workshops and one to one support in schools and colleges to help ensure young people who are risk of becoming Not In Education, Employment or Training (NEET) are supported into positive destinations. In this varied and interesting role, you will engage with students, teachers and support staff in Solihull schools and colleges and seek to proactively increase rates of employment, education and training amongst young people. As a Careers & Employability Officer, you will play a key role in empowering young people to overcome barriers and achieve their aspirations. You will manage your own caseload, running small group workshops, designing personalised action plans and delivering engaging interventions that inspire confidence and progression. You will lead by example on the delivery of the service and the achievement of results by managing your own caseload of participants. You will work with your team, partners and other organisations where appropriate to design, develop and deliver a range of innovative projects that will engage local people in projects and initiatives aimed at supporting them into employment and/or training To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate: A Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject OR the ability to demonstrate through extended relevant experience and training, the necessary specialist knowledge to undertake the full range of duties of the post Experience of driving forward and delivering successful employment projects with target driven results Experience of working with young people with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties and understanding their additional needs Experience of engaging with young people to provide appropriate advice and information about their future career and employment options Experience of working with partners from the public, private and voluntary sectors In this role you will be expected to work flexibly, including outside of normal office hours, in order to meet the needs of the service.
