Overview
Director of Project Management role at IPS-Integrated Project Services, based in Birmingham, UK. Lead the Project Management, Project Controls and Planning & Scheduling team, and provide high-level support to marketing while collaborating with construction and C&Q project management.
The Director of Project Management is responsible for the overall leadership of the Project Management Group and for managing the performance of the design project management group. Performance will be measured by project profitability and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
* Assigns personnel to act as Project Engineers, Project Managers, or other positions that control income-earning activities.
* Partner with Directors of Operations and Business Unit Leaders to assign team members to each project or income-earning activity.
* Maintain general supervision over all activities for which the Design Group is responsible to ensure technical and financial competence of the Group, employees, and each project.
* Regularly review personnel regarding performance.
* Monitor compliance with company policies and accepted practices.
* Monitor and approve timesheets and expense vouchers for all persons assigned to the Design Group before submittal to accounting for payroll and expense reimbursement.
Quality
* Help ensure that projects managed in all Regions meet IPS profitability and quality management systems standards.
* Ensure IPS QMS is aligned across the entire EMEA region.
* Interact with Directors of Operations regularly to ensure business unit and overall company needs are met.
Financial
* Generally responsible for achieving financial goals for the Design Project Management Group.
* Manage salaries to hire and retain competent personnel while maintaining profitability.
* Maintain control of overheads to keep the cost of services competitive while supporting staff development and up-to-date expertise.
* Identify and pursue opportunities to increase productivity and long-term profitability for the company.
Training And Development
* Develop active programs for continuing education, training, and development of personnel to promote the Company’s interests and provide avenues for individual advancement.
* Identify opportunities to mentor others.
* Identify and approve enrolment in appropriate courses, seminars, and conferences related to employees’ lines of technology or personal development.
* Encourage ongoing reading of current events and technologies to keep staff informed.
Personal
* Practice a personal code of high moral standards and ethics of the engineering profession.
* Maintain appropriate contact with the public, clients, and employees to promote and protect the company’s interests.
* Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in Project Management.
* Stay current with advances in the profession through reading, meetings, and conferences.
Qualifications & Requirements
* A minimum of 15 years’ industry experience in Project Management.
* Strong Engineering Design discipline background with experience running engineering design projects in Life Sciences or Technical industries.
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent; MBA advantageous.
* Strong experience interfacing with new clients and maintaining relationships with existing stakeholders.
* Proven ability in administration to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and obtain cooperation from others.
* Analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, superior communication, team building, and strong work ethic.
* Proven ability in managing 25+ employees.
