Clinical Fellow ST3+ Urology

Applications are invited for one full‑time Clinical Fellow ST3+ doctor in Urology.
The Department of Urology comprises Consultants, Specialty Trainees/Clinical Fellows ranging from ST3 to ST8 and junior trainees. It is a busy clinical environment with a large volume of elective and emergency surgery and scope for personal development. Current trust grade registrars are completing their FRCS examinations.
Swindon is a major town set within the rural beauty of Wiltshire, located between the Cotswolds to the North and Marlborough Downs to the South. Travel to major cities, including Bristol, Oxford and London, is easy with frequent rail links and the M4 motorway within a couple of miles. Local accommodation is affordable and there are excellent shopping, social and sports facilities.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work within the Urology team, managing the team's in‑patients, performing on‑call duties, attending theatre and out‑patients. They will be one of three Urology registrars covering on‑call and will participate in training junior staff and medical students.

Job responsibilities
NHS experience is mandatory
Provide on‑call cover on a 1 in 3 rolling rota and ward cover for in‑patients. Potential for hands‑on training in the operating theatre and study leave for examinations and courses as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or GMC registerable medical qualifications.
* Registration with the GMC and a license to practice.
* Successful completion of MRCS or equivalent.
* Evidence of training progression.
Clinical Experience
* Completed F1 and F2 year (or equivalent outside UK).
* Completed CT/ST1/2 in General Surgery.
* Recent experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems & practices (or equivalent).
* At least 24 months experience in surgery of which at least 6 months has been in General Surgery.
* Evidence of good progression in chosen career.
Knowledge
* Evidence of understanding and application of knowledge in speciality.
* Willingness to seek help from senior colleagues as appropriate.
Clinical Skills
* Competent in history taking and examination skills (e.g., experience of basic life support and resuscitation skills).
* Acceptance of responsibility & ability to take leadership role.
Teaching & Research
* Demonstrated interest in research.
* Demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Ability to contribute to departmental teaching sessions.
* Demonstrated case presentations.
Personal Attributes
* Effective communication with patients & their relatives.
* Good working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
* Ability to function successfully under pressure.
* Good organisational and time‑management skills.
Practical Requirements
* Ability to fulfil all duties of the post including out‑of‑hours commitments.
* Prepared to be flexible in working patterns.
* Demonstrated willingness to become computer literate.
