We are small charity with almost 40 years' experience of providing inclusive education and support services around relationships and sex, sexual health & wellbeing, sexual rights & responsibilities to communities in and around Cambridgeshire. Role overview:
Our short-term educational projects support vulnerable young people and adults to better understand the importance of healthy relationships, sex, good sexual health, and how to keep themselves and others safe. Participants can attend up to seven one-hour sessions; each session focuses on a different topic. Our sessions are designed to be delivered to individuals or groups, either face to face or online. We work in a range of provisions e.g. schools, colleges learning disability and housing projects across Cambridgeshire.
We need volunteer education facilitators to help us to meet the high demand for these projects so that people have access to support when they need it. This role will also help to support our RSE delivery to both mainstream and SEN students in secondary schools.
Providing volunteers meet the requirements for the role full training on our projects and all topics will be given.
Key responsibilities:
1. To deliver predesigned sessions to people of varying ages abilities. Our sessions cover Relationships, Consent, Online Literacy, Body Image, and Sexual Health.
2. To help with the development, design, and preparation of resources for sessions.
3. To liaise with organizations and schools to ensure arrangements for the sessions are in place.
4. To collect feedback from participants and organisers.
5. To attend team meetings as required.
Requirements for the role:
1. A strong belief in the importance of relationships and sex education and a desire to support a charity that makes a real difference in people's lives.
2. Experience of supporting people who have a learning disability or autism or be able to demonstrate and evidence an excellent understanding of the needs of people who have a learning disability or autism.
3. Experience of supporting vulnerable children and young people
4. An understanding of or willingness to learn about inappropriate (for age) sexual behaviours, such as sending inappropriate images or accessing inappropriate content online or engaging in inappropriate behaviour for age.
5. Experience of planning and delivering either support sessions, lessons or trainings.
6. A knowledge and understanding of the importance of maintaining both professional boundaries and confidentiality.
7. A knowledge and understanding of the importance of safeguarding.
8. Ability to organize, manage and plan effectively, work under pressure and network.
9. Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
10. Able to use Microsoft Office and the Internet to a good standard.
11.Good written and verbal communication skills
1. Ideally you will have your own transport to travel to sessions but we're happy to consider applications from people who could get to sessions using public transport (we would aim to allocate sessions closer to where you live).
