School Support Worker – Supporting Pupils with ALN and Wellbeing

Location: Cardiff CF5
Start Date: 13th April 2026 – 17th July 2026 (with the possibility of extension)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:15pm
Pay: £90 per day (pay increase in April 2026)

Are you a compassionate, patient, and energetic individual with a passion for helping children reach their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated School Support Worker to provide one-to-one support for a KS3 pupil in a mainstream secondary school in Cardiff. About the Role

Are you passionate about helping young people thrive academically, socially, and emotionally? In this role, you will support pupils aged 11–16 (KS3 & KS4) with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), trauma, and social, emotional, or behavioural challenges. You will contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that fosters growth, confidence, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with ALN, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and other learning or behavioural needs.

* Assist teachers in implementing bespoke learning plans and adapting lessons to meet individual pupil requirements.

* Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, helping them develop coping strategies and resilience.

* Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom culture.

* Build trust and provide stability, nurturing pupils’ growth and self-confidence.


What We’re Looking For

* A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their educational development.

* Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

* Patience, empathy, and a proactive, solution-focused approach.

* Willingness to complete training, gain Enhanced DBS clearance, and register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – guidance provided.

* Two professional references from employers or relevant roles.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
