Overview
The department provides a comprehensive service for patients with gastrointestinal and liver disorders from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, both at district level and as a tertiary centre. The Cardiff Crohn’s and Colitis clinic offers a regional IBD service. The appointee will join four other Consultants with an IBD interest, supported by IBD specialist and infusion nurses, a specialist GI dietician, and links to the Intestinal Failure team. There are regular IBD radiology MDTs, biologics reviews, business meetings, and combined adolescent IBD clinics with the Paediatric Gastroenterologists. There are strong links with Cardiff University’s School of Medicine.
Responsibilities
* Work in a dedicated multidisciplinary IBD team across UHB.
* Participate in a rota for weekend GI retrieval and ward reviews and a 1 in 14 emergency endoscopy rota.
* Review all new GI and liver admissions daily.
* Not participate in the general medical on‑call rota.
Qualifications
Applicants must provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of employment/training history. If currently or most recently employed as a substantive or locum Consultant for more than 12 months, an additional referee – the Medical Director – must also be named.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of the expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.

Compensation
The basic salary range for this post is £110,240 per annum to £160,951 per annum. Applicants will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales.
