Salary: Up to £40,831.30 per annum (including sleep-in shifts and on-call payments)
Specific Hours: 39 hours per week
Accountable to: Registered Manager and Responsible Individuals/Operational Directors

Main Purpose of the Job
As our Deputy Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Registered Manager with the daily operations of the home. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality care while promoting the rights, wellbeing, and individual needs of each young person in accordance with our organizational policies.
Your Responsibilities
* Ensure exceptional care across both homes, adhering to legislation, safeguarding requirements, and organizational policies.
* Maintain compliance with Health and Safety regulations, ensuring staff are well-trained and knowledgeable.
* Assist in accurate record-keeping for young people and staff, contributing to monitoring and quality assurance systems.
* Promote effective childcare practices through continuous improvement initiatives.
* Prepare for and participate in internal and external meetings, either alongside or in the absence of the Registered Manager.
* Join the on-call rota and provide sleep-in cover as needed.
* Produce clear, evaluative reports and oversee documentation to meet regulatory standards.
* Take on operational decision-making responsibilities when the Registered Manager is unavailable.
Human Resource Management
* Support the recruitment process, ensuring all safer recruitment checks are completed.
* Assist in the induction, supervision, and appraisal of staff in line with organizational expectations.
* Encourage staff development by ensuring mandatory training and CPD requirements are met.
* Help maintain effective staff rotas and oversee expense management.
* Conduct investigations into complaints and disciplinary matters as per organizational policy.
Management of Resources & External Relations
* Assist the Registered Manager in monitoring budgets and financial processes to ensure effective resource use.
* Report and follow up on maintenance issues to keep both homes safe and compliant.
* Represent the organization positively in all external interactions, fostering professional relationships with agencies and the community.
* Liaise with commissioners and the referrals team regarding placements and admissions.
What We’re Looking For
* A commitment to delivering high-quality care and education.
* Experience in leading or managing a team.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
* Minimum Level 3 Children & Young People qualification.
* Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification, or a willingness to pursue it.
* An understanding of the needs of vulnerable young people.
* Safe working practices and professional boundaries.
* Ability to build effective relationships with young people, colleagues, and external agencies.
* Emotional resilience when working with challenging behavior.
* Commitment to confidentiality and anti-discriminatory practices.
* A full UK driving license and access to transport.
* Flexibility, reliability, and a proactive approach to organizational development.
