Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in our team of Geomatics Analysts. You will be working as part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from our Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including our Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.

New starters to the Environment Agency are required to have an incident response role in addition to their day job. Roles and working patterns are varied and can be chosen by the individual. Day-job support is provided to all staff so that incident response duties can be undertaken as and when required.
Team
The Geomatics team, within National Monitoring Survey, provides specialist services to enable effective evidence to be used across the business. This includes collection and analysis of high-quality Lidar, Aerial Photography, Bathymetry & Satellite data. The team works with National & Area teams to co-deliver monitoring requirements for the Environment Agency and the wider environmental community.
Responsibilities
* Process survey data and quality control outputs using GIS and specialist software.
* Assist in delivering the National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Support data collection and analysis of LiDAR, aerial photography, bathymetry and satellite data as required by the team.
* Collaborate with National & Area teams to meet monitoring requirements.
* Adhere to incident response duties as part of the role where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
* A relevant degree-level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Experience with GIS using ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) and handling large, complex mapping datasets, preferably including Airborne LiDAR.
* Experience of processing and quality control procedures on LiDAR datasets and LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models is advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good organisational skills, professional attitude, and ability to communicate effectively; ability to work unsupervised to meet deadlines.
Additional Information
* Location: National Monitoring Survey team is national; you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office. Travel to the Geomatics team hub in Bath when required and occasional EA office attendance to support the team charter.
* Contract type: Full-time; other working patterns may be considered.
* Interviews: In-person at Bath office, including a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.
