Overview
Peer Recovery Specialist – Crisis Services (Nights) – Abingdon, VA. Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Sunday - Wednesday, 8:00pm-6:00am. Compensation: $16.00 with a $1 shift differential for nights; commensurate with education/experience. Education: High School Diploma/GED and Peer Recovery Specialist Certification required (can be completed after hire). Experience: Lived experience with SUD or lived experience with SMI or similar diagnosis, or lived experience with an immediate family member with SMI or similar diagnosis. This position is part of HCS’ larger Peer Recovery Team across all crisis and HCS services.
Responsibilities
Provide in-the-moment representation of the consumer perspective to assist in de-escalation and crisis intervention by providing empathy, emotional support, encouragement, and education that can only come from personal lived experience. Work directly alongside clinical crisis staff in facility and community settings to support crisis stabilization.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma/GED and Peer Recovery Specialist Certification required (can be completed after hire).
* Lived experience as described above.
