We are looking to recruit a Clinical Facilitator to work within the Paediatric Community Neuro development Service. The role will be based across sites within East Lancashire to assist in the smooth running of the Community Neurodevelopmental Paediatric outpatient clinics.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Community Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics Team by providing a high quality clinic nurse service within the Neurodevelopment outpatient setting across all sites.
* Ensure the smooth running of outpatient clinics, meeting the needs of the children and their families, and liaise with appropriate staff.
* Work without direct supervision from qualified staff.
* Develop and maintain sound management and organisational skills.
* Act as patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met.
* Monitor and ensure patient satisfaction and proactively manage any issues that are identified.
* Provide an efficient and quality reception service for all visitors, with a non‑judgemental approach and promote a welcoming environment, respecting cultural, ethnic and social differences.
* Maintain stock levels of all relevant forms, leaflets and information in the clinic rooms.
* Assist with general clerical duties and photocopying as required.
* Answer the telephone courteously, dealing with queries, taking messages and referring calls to the appropriate person in accordance with confidentiality guidelines.
* Ensure the safety of patient records and information at all times.
* Maintain confidentiality; follow written protocols when dealing face‑to‑face or by telephone with patients.
* Communicate effectively and appropriately when dealing with conflicts that arise within the clinic setting.
* Liaise with the wider multi‑disciplinary team and other agencies.
* Recognise own professional boundaries and seek advice and support as necessary.
* Be aware of the signs and symptoms of illness in children and act accordingly.
* Ensure that all equipment and toys meet safety standards.
* Organise own workload.
* Maintain good working relationships with other members of Community Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics and the associated multi‑disciplinary team.
* Ensure, when exposed to bodily fluid, adequate precautions are taken to minimise the risk of cross‑infection and safe disposal of bodily fluids.
* Assist with the smooth running of the clinics to enable the service to be effective.
* Provide reassurance support to children and carers/parents.
* Obtain children’s growth measurements and record these in the medical records.
* Obtain children’s blood pressures and heart rate monitoring, document and escalates the results to the consultant or specialist practitioner reviewing the child and young person.
* Ensure the clinic environment is adequate for its intended purpose.
* Responsible for cleaning equipment in the weighing room.
* Responsible for annual maintenance of equipment in the weighing room.
* Participate in the induction and orientation of new staff/students to the department.
* Adhere to the Trust uniform policy.
* Promote professional working relationships with parents, colleagues and the multidisciplinary team involved with the children and families accessing the service.
* Maintain confidentiality and, if required to break it, provide a clear rationale for the breach.
* When requested, assist where a difficult procedure or consultation is anticipated.
* Liaise with children’s families, and where English is not the first language, use alternate reliable sources to ensure information is adequately delivered.
* Have the ability to communicate in a variety of settings with patients of varying levels of understanding.
* Present factual information and refer questions to others when appropriate.
* Provide advice to families and other professionals; be aware of own limitations when giving advice.
* Ensure all documentation is contemporaneous in keeping with ELHT’s record‑keeping policy.
* Attend regular meetings appropriate to the role.
Based across sites you will be required to work flexibly to cover the needs of the service.
