Location: Glasgow – Govan and Scotstoun. Please note, attendance at a recruitment day in Glasgow is a must!
Salary: £38,662.00 (with an additional shift allowance of 33% potentially applicable)
Your Role:
As a Welder at BAE Systems, you will play a crucial role in crafting world-class naval ships. Your expertise will help ensure the security and defense of nations around the globe. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Welding various materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
* Utilizing multiple welding processes such as Manual Metal Arc, Metal Active Gas, and more.
* Achieving high standards in welding butts and fillets.
* Primarily focusing on FCAW/MAG welding using ceramic tiles.
* Conducting self-verification on all welds.
* Adhering to SHE standards related to welding, including fume control.
Your Skills and Experience:
We’re looking for candidates who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. Here’s what you’ll need:
* Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers required).
* Current Weld Codings.
* Experience with ceramic tile welding.
* Proficiency in welding and using associated equipment.
* Experience in Flux Core Arc Welding and Metal Core Arc Welding.
* Ability to produce deposit welds that pass visual and NDE examinations.
* Experience welding carbon steel in the 4-15mm thickness range.
* Understanding of SHE and Risk Assessment awareness.
* Background in maritime or major construction/manufacturing environments.
* Experience with MIG welding of aluminum and automated equipment.
