Data Protection and Compliance Assistant role in Village Hotels. Location: Hybrid with National Travel when Required.

The Role
As our Data Protection and Compliance Assistant, you'll be a key member of the Legal Team, supporting the organisation's adherence to all relevant data privacy laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You'll work closely with the General Counsel and Compliance Officer, as well as various hotel and central support teams, to manage day-to-day data protection requests and incidents. This is a crucial role in ensuring the privacy and security of our guests' and employees' information.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage Data Subject Requests: handle all data subject requests (access, rectification, erasure, and "right to be forgotten"), track requests from start to finish, ensuring timely completion and compliance with GDPR and other data protection laws.
* Process Law Enforcement Requests: manage and track Data Access requests from law enforcement agencies, ensuring legitimate requests are fulfilled according to legal protocols.
* Manage Security Breaches: track and manage reported security breaches from internal teams or external customers, promptly escalating incidents to the General Counsel and Compliance Officer for mitigation and prevention.
* Liaise and Collaborate: build and maintain strong relationships with all hotel departments, central support teams, and senior management to coordinate responses, gather information, and ensure a unified approach to data protection.
* Support Licensing Compliance: with the support of the General Counsel, assist in managing licensing across the portfolio, including premises, marriage, copyright, and PRS/PPL licensing.
* Manage Legal Invoicing: responsible for managing the in-house legal invoicing process.
Person Specification
* A working knowledge of data protection law and practices is essential.
* Methodical and organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Able to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
* Flexible, proactive, quick to learn, and possessing a can-do attitude.
