We are seeking a high-calibre Interim Corporate Financial Advisor to join a Strategic Finance and Accounting Team at a critical time. This senior role provides essential capacity to deliver core financial functions including budget setting, statutory accounts, capital programme oversight, and treasury strategy. Key Accountabilities: Strategic Support: Provide expert financial guidance to the Chief Finance Officer, particularly in managing the Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) and statutory obligations. Capital and Reserves Leadership: Lead annual reviews of the Council’s Capital and Reserves Strategies, ensuring robustness and alignment with risk assessments. Technical Advisory: Advise on complex areas including capital financing, VAT, tax, pensions, and leasing, ensuring compliance with statutory and professional standards. Treasury Management: Lead development of the Treasury Management Strategy and manage investments, borrowing, cashflow, and banking arrangements. Policy and Risk: Contribute to financial controls, appraisal of capital projects, and risk frameworks across the Council’s finance activities. Key Criteria: Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (CCAB – e.g., CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) Experience: Significant experience in strategic and technical corporate finance Deep understanding of local authority finance and governance Strong track record in capital accounting (highest priority) Knowledge: Up-to-date with UK financial legislation, public sector accounting standards, and statutory reporting requirements Familiarity with council service operations and their financial impact Skills: Advanced IT literacy and strong analytical capability Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills How to Apply Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
