The team is an integrated Business Intelligence- and Data Warehouse team within the eHealth Department that serves the entire organisation with solutions related to reporting and analytical applications. Our core areas are performance reporting and dashboards and statutory reporting to the Scottish Government.
Our data warehouse is based on Microsoft SQL Server and tools from Insource. For the Business Intelligence delivery, we are using Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Power BI from Microsoft. We are in the process of implementing Microsoft Fabric.
Your Role
As a BI solution developer, you will cover the whole spectrum from business requirements to data‑ and solution architecture and development. You may also be involved in the ongoing development and operation of our data warehouse, building an extensive knowledge of the data warehouse as well as the operational health care systems and business processes.
From the start we expect that you will design and develop solutions that support the reporting and analytics needs of the organisation. This can be within the wider EPR Programme (Electronic Patient Record) including a new Radiology Information System, order communications and discharge. You may also be involved in re‑thinking and automating analytical tasks for analysts in other departments in NHS Highland. This also involves training, mentoring and expert support in DAX, Data modelling and processing for analysts across the organisation building models in Power BI.
About You
You can discuss complex information requirements with senior non‑technical counterparts, articulate the data‑related challenges and opportunities and come up with constructive solutions. You are able to question and re‑frame requirements and convert them into a solution that is visually efficient and appealing but also adheres to a solution architecture that is stable and efficient from a maintenance perspective.
Core skills and experience:
* Demonstrable experience with T‑SQL, SSRS, Power BI, DAX and M (Power Query).
* Proficiency with data warehouse methodologies and concepts, relational and multi‑dimensional data modelling.
* Experience with Microsoft Fabric is valuable.
* Knowledge of data challenges in unscheduled and elective care as well as primary care.
* Data‑related experience from the health care sector.
