Marine Water Quality Officer
Operations Catchment Services – Marine team, Environmental Agency.
Overview
Support the assessment of marine water quality on a national scale, applying technical expertise in modelling, data analysis and evidence‑based decision making. The role participates in incident response and works collaboratively with a dispersed team and external partners.
Responsibilities
* Provide timely answers to technical questions.
* Review reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
* Use data to inform water quality models.
* Apply sound records management principals.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Summarise and communicate technical work, escalating challenges when needed.
* Build strong relationships across the team and with external partners.
* Use initiative to contribute to the work of the team and the wider organisation.
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; professional membership desirable.
* Experience in data analysis and knowledge of modelling software.
* Proficiency with tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, and specialist packages (e.g., Mike, Cormix).
* Comfortable working in a virtual team and willing to travel for national meetings.
Employment Details
Type: Full‑time (two positions – one permanent, one fixed‑term 6 months). Location: national role with an EA Office base; flexible / hybrid arrangements available.
