An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the role of a Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator Band 7 at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust within the Biochemistry POCT department. This is a part-time position, 15 hours per week, across Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals. The hours can be worked flexibly between Monday and Friday. You will work collaboratively with other POCT Coordinators, assisting the POCT manager in managing the team, including Associate Practitioners. Your main focus will be on training and ensuring the quality of POCT devices for the trust. Knowledge of UKAS standards would be beneficial as the department works towards UKAS Accreditation. Responsibilities include:
1. Leading POCT activities as one of the leads
2. Managing and coordinating daily team activities
3. Leading service improvement initiatives
4. Ensuring standard and quality of results
5. Providing specialist advice to clinicians
6. Offering specialist services such as training, advanced troubleshooting, and problem solving for specific requirements
7. Working flexibly to meet service needs, which may include extended hours and participation in a 24/7 service
8. Handling materials that involve human body fluids, tissues, and hazardous chemicals
9. Maintaining and promoting a professional image of the pathology department
