Senior Town Planner

What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Town Planner, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality planning advice and services. Your responsibilities will include managing your own caseload of small to medium-sized applications, contributing to major projects, and providing direct advice to clients. Tasks include report drafting, planning submissions, development plan representations, and engaging with planning authorities. Your input will be critical to shaping successful outcomes.
* Supporting senior colleagues and directors on large-scale and strategic planning projects
* Managing and delivering small to medium planning applications independently
* Conducting detailed research and analysis
* Preparing planning appraisals and technical reports
* Writing and submitting planning applications
* Liaising with planning officers, stakeholders, and third parties
* Building strong relationships with clients and collaborators
* Developing creative, evidence-based planning solutions
* Taking financial and project responsibility from inception to completion
* Staying current with planning policy developments and best practices
* Representing the consultancy at external meetings and events
What We're Looking For
We seek someone with a strong professional background and a proactive approach. Ideal candidates will possess:
* A degree in town planning or a related discipline
* 5-10 years' experience in the public or private sector
* Solid understanding of planning principles and UK planning systems
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* A problem-solving mindset with strong critical thinking skills
* The ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure
* Confidence in liaising with clients and stakeholders
