The Opportunity
Copello is partnering with a trusted Copello Partner supporting major, highly regulated Government and Defence programmes. They are seeking a Principal Consultant to lead and grow their Systems & Supportability Engineering (S&SE) team.
This role offers the opportunity to shape strategy, guide capability development, and deliver multi-disciplinary systems engineering support to some of the most complex Government programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the S&SE team, developing capability across Systems Engineering, MBSE, and Integrated Logistics Support.
* Set and implement strategy in collaboration with other departments to align with organisational goals.
* Deliver technical excellence across requirements management, architecture design, testing, and acceptance throughout the Systems Engineering lifecycle.
* Provide technical assurance and guidance to ensure project quality and alignment with customer expectations.
* Support business growth by contributing to bids, proposals, and client engagement.
* Mentor and develop team members, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone who has:
* Strong background in Systems Engineering within Defence or consultancy environments.
* Proven experience in Requirements Engineering, MBSE, Integrated Logistics Support, and Engineering Governance.
* Knowledge of UK MOD processes and the acquisition framework (e.g., URD, SRD, CONEMP/CONUSE, ITEAP, Business Cases).
* Experience with DOORS or Dimensions RM for requirements management.
* Understanding of complex System-of-Systems integration and performance management.
* Ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and ensure technical assurance across projects.
Desirable:
* Degree in Engineering, Systems, or related discipline.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional qualification.
* Experience in MOD or defence-related projects.
Requirements
* Existing right to live and work in the UK.
* Eligible for or already holding SC Security Clearance.
