The purpose of the role is to work directly to the Chief Executive to support them with the Senior Executive Team in delivering the priorities of the business plan and the impact framework for Amgueddfa Cymru.
The postholder will focus on areas that will make the biggest contribution to delivery, monitoring them constantly and, with their keen eye for detail, flagging to the Chief Executive any emerging issues that need prompt attention.
While the CE fulfils a largely external-facing role, the Senior Executive Team with support from the postholder will ensure that the CE remains connected and visible where most needed within the Amgueddfa Cymru family of museums.
They will support the CE to focus time on purposeful stakeholder engagement, working with the Head of External Relations, Comms & Funding to provide effective internal and external communication and impactful leadership.
Working Arrangements:
Whilst this role requires office working there may be the opportunity for hybrid working. The postholder will also be expected to travel to all sites within Wales but will be based at National Museum Cardiff.
Main Purpose of Role
The postholder will be key to support the CE to structure their time effectively, finding the right balance between internal visibility and external stakeholder engagement and development. They will also work with the CEO and SET to ensure that Amgueddfa Cymru is appropriately represented at key stakeholder events.
They will work alongside Heads of Department to provide the fulcrum point for collating and analysing information and performance data across the organisation’s many internal and external functions for the CE’s and SET’s insight and prioritisation.
They will be responsible for ensuring the strategic priorities are adequately reflected in the operational plan, keeping track of key strategic initiatives as part of the CE’s priorities. Above all they will be deeply committed to the Museum’s core purpose of ‘providing learning and enjoyment for everyone through the national collections of Wales’.
The role requires extensive working with other departments to ensure information is able to be reported succinctly to the CE and priorities set accordingly.
