Job Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating large industrial equipment—including forklifts ranging from 6K to 36K or larger-capacity lifts—to move, load, unload, and stage materials throughout the warehouse or yard. This position plays a critical role in ensuring efficient product flow, equipment safety, and overall operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate various heavy equipment such as forklifts, roll clamps, and large-capacity lifts to transport and store materials.
* Load and unload materials onto trucks, trailers, or designated storage areas in a safe and timely manner.
* Perform pre-use inspections on all equipment at the start of each shift to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
* Maintain accurate records of materials handled, inventory movement, and daily equipment checks.
* Use rigging, block, and bracing techniques when required to secure materials for transport.
* Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
* Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and team members to coordinate workflow and resolve operational issues.
* Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment as needed, reporting any malfunctions promptly.
* Support other warehouse duties as assigned, including general housekeeping, material preparation, and cross-training as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience operating a jockey truck, forklift, or in general labor is required.
* Minimum 2 years of experience operating forklifts or heavy equipment in a warehouse, yard, or industrial setting.
* Valid Forklift Operator Certification (36K).
* Familiarity with rigging, block, and bracing techniques.
* Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
* Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Ability to lift and move materials up to 50lbs regularly.
Work Environment:
* Conditions: Indoor and outdoor work environment with exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment.
* Hours: Must be available to work flexible hours, including potential overtime and weekends
Work Schedule:
* Days: Monday through Friday
* Hours: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
