Service Manager - In Custody

The Growth Company (GC) is looking for a dynamic and committed Service Manager to lead the delivery of our Creating Future Opportunities (CFO) Evolution contract across South Yorkshire Prisons. This is a unique opportunity to oversee a dedicated team providing both one-to-one and group-based support to participants, helping them build brighter futures.
We’re particularly keen to hear from applicants with Management experience working within prison environments, who understand the challenges and opportunities of delivering impactful services in custody settings.

As Service Manager, you’ll:
1. Lead and inspire a passionate team delivering group and one-to-one interventions.
2. Ensure excellence in service delivery across multiple sites.
3. Champion innovation and continuous improvement in justice services.
Key Responsibilities:
4. Lead and support team members to ensure optimal contract delivery and performance outcomes.
5. Foster strong partnerships with local stakeholders and HMPPS to enhance participant support and referral pathways.
6. Deliver high-quality, compliant services aligned with contractual and regulatory standards.
7. Drive continuous improvement in systems, service quality, and product development.
8. Maintain data integrity and ensure information security across all operations.
9. Stay informed on policy changes and market trends to adapt services proactively.
10. Manage individual budgets effectively, ensuring accountability and value for money.
About you:
11. Must have extensive experience leading of supporting teams of within a custodial/prison setting.
12. Results-oriented, confident, and resilient, with a strong focus on achieving outcomes in challenging environments.
13. Collaborative team player who also demonstrates strong initiative and independent problem-solving.
14. Excellent communication and networking skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
15. Proven experience in leading and supporting staff within both custodial settings and the wider community justice sector.
16. Access to a car as this role involves visiting various sites.
Skills Required:
17. Demonstrated effective leadership and strategic management across diverse teams and projects.
18. Skilled in delivering confident presentations and producing high-quality reports for varied audiences.
19. Proficient in ICT tools and systems, with the ability to leverage technology for operational efficiency.
20. Experienced in people management, including performance development and team motivation.
21. Track record of achieving and exceeding performance targets in complex environments.
22. In-depth knowledge of the Justice sector, particularly within custodial settings.
23. Strong understanding of employment law and its application in people management practices.
24. Strong knowledge of rehabilitation training courses for offenders.
